We found out we were going to be parents on October 27th, 2014. It was the best day! I hurried to Target and bought tiny baby boy and baby girl shoes, and a book called 'Caveman's guide to pregnancy' and stuck it all in a bag for Alex to open. I was so nervous and excited to tell him, even though we had been hoping for it. Waiting for him to get home from work felt like the slowest hours of my life! Alex was so happy!!
-My heart could explode!-
We were riding in the car with Jules and gave her a onesie that said 'i love my Aunt', she cried! She was so happy. It was so sweet! I took Mal to the mall and parked in the Expecting Mothers parking spot! She just said Tara why are you parking here? I smiled and waited for her to realize, then we freaked out in the car! Their reactions were priceless and so special I will never forget them. We waited until I was I think 6 weeks pregnant to tell our parents. For my parents we had my friend Beckie make a little plaque that read: "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, MY BABY you'll be. July, 2015." From the children's book I'll love you Forever, a Rocheleau favorite ;). Mom's eyes went huge when she saw the July, 2015 part and she said, "no way" and started to cry. Dad said "wait July 2015?! What does that mean?" They proceeded to count the months until July, it was the cutest thing ever. They were so happy. It was one of those moments that I know I will remember forever. To tell Alex's parents we got bear a sweater and wrote "I'm going to be a big brother!" on it, then left him to run thru the house (we lived in their basement). We stood at the bottom of the stairs and listened closely for a reaction...(hearts pounding)... after a few minutes of nothing we crept upstairs. They had noticed his jacket, but hadn't read it! As soon as they read it they were so happy and gave us huge hugs! We all went to dinner at our favorite restaurant to go to together, La Frontera and talked about how exciting it was.
My first trimester wasn't too bad, I never threw up! I remember feeling miserable like it would never end, and I went thru a huge box of saltines! Bread was my best friend during those months. It seemed to be the only thing that would settle my stomach. I also developed an extremely strong aversion to meat during my first trimester. Anything to do with meat, and any kind! At 9 weeks we went to Fetal Foto and had our first ultrasound. What an incredible experience! Oh okay, you have a little gummy bear baby in your belly! There it is, have a nice day. And then somehow you're supposed to resume normal life?! It was amazing to see the sweet little thing moving around. I remember he looked like he was shaking his little bum :) the cutest.
My second trimester has been WONDERFUL. I feel so lucky to have had such an enjoyable pregnancy. I am 24 weeks right now and it has been so fun to watch my belly grow! I started feeling kicks at about 18 weeks. We had our Anatomy Ultrasound at 20 weeks. Best day!! We got to see all of his cute little body parts, he had his feet up in front of his face! The ultrasound technician said, "so you want to know the gender right? Well... It's definitely.. A BOY!" Oh my goodness!! We laughed and smiled for the longest time! Alex yelled out WOOHOO! I'll never forget it. What a blessing! I KNEW it was a boy! ;)
Alex has since felt our boy kick 3 times, it's always so exciting! We are so in love. Here is a belly picture from 23 weeks.
I'm starting to lose my belly button, that's bizarre! It pokes out a little bit! I love feeling my little guy throughout the day. I love him so much! Whenever I go thru a colossal life change, I find myself reflecting on my life. I am so grateful and so very blessed. I strive every day to maintain my attitude of gratitude!
